Dr. Ramareddy

A Professor in the
Department of Molecular Sciences, University of
Tennessee, Dr. Ramareddy V. Guntaka is our Chief
Scientific Adviser. He has three decades of
hands on experience in virology and molecular
biology and has published extensively in many
high impact journals. He was a member of the
team that discovered the proto-oncogenes for
which the 1989 Nobel Prize was awarded to Drs.
H.E.Varmus and J.M.Bishop. Dr. Ramareddy V.
Guntaka was also the key person for cloning and
commercialization of Hepatitis B vaccine
(Shanvac-BTM) and Interferon Alpha 2b
(ShanferonTM) by Shantha Biotechnics Ltd,
Hyderabad. He is also credited with cloning and
sequencing, for the first time, the entire
genome of Indian isolates of Hepatitis C Virus.
Recently he received the Genome Valley
Excellence Award at the BioAsia 2006, held in
February 2006.
Worldwide Patent No.
5,780,611 is an asset to Dr. Ramareddy V.
Guntaka for Oligomers, which inhibit expression
of Collagen Genes. This nucleic acid based drug
is to control organ fibrosis (liver, kidney,
lungs, heart, restenosis, etc.).
He
guides Sudershan Biotech Ltd. in cloning and
expression of Recombinant Therapeutic Vaccines
for Viruses and Industrial Enzymes for the
production of Antibiotics & Anti-viral
drugs. He also guides Sudershan Biotech Ltd. in
the future product pipeline and direction to
achieve the set goals. |

Telugu movies on DTS in1996 and created domain
names with movie titles and provided information

Chennai, India. He was a Senior House Officer in
Orthopedics, Accident and Emergency and lastly
Neurosurgery. He settled in the field of
Ophthalmology in 1983.He started his
Ophthalmic Career with Dr. Lajpathi Rai
Kolli and Dr. Srivastava P. Desai both
consultant Ophthalmologists at Doncaster Royal
Infirmary, Doncaster. He has started Maxivision
along with Dr. Tummuru Kodanda Rami Reddy,
American NRI from Valparaiso and Mr. Danamudi
PoornaChandra Rao of Vijayawada, A.P., in
Hyderabad. He is a member of All India
Ophthalmic Society (AIOS), Andhra Pradesh State
Ophthalmologists Society (APSOS), European
Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons
(ESCRS), and American Academy of
Ophthalmologists (AAO), American Society of
Cataract & Refractive Surgeons (ASCRS), and
Eye Bank Association of India etc. He holds
Padma Bhushan Siva Reddy Endowment Award for
Best Researcher of the Year 1999 by AP Academic
Of Sciences and Dr. Malleswar Rao Oration award
in the year 2002 by A.P. State Ophthalmic
Society at Guntur Medical College and received
many other awards. Recently he became the
Director of Chiranjeevi Eye Bank. |

College, Hyderabad from 1992 to `94 and retired
as Director of Medical Education,
Government of Andhra Pradesh. Presently he is
the Director of Deccan College of Medical
Sciences and allied institutions.
He is
fellow of National Academy of Sciences, National
Academy of Medical Sciences, and American
College of Gastroenterology. He is the Emeritus
Professor of the National Academy of Medical
Sciences and NTR University of Health Sciences,
Vijayawada.
He has Been awarded
"Doctor of Science" by NTR
University of Health Sciences (2003) and also
been awarded "Padmashree" by
the Government of India 2001. He was awarded
"B.C. Roy award" for Medical Excellence and
"Modi Unichem ICMR Award, in 1992. He has also
been awarded "Kharazmi award" on Medical
Research from President, Islamic Republic of
Iran in 1996.
He has 130 Publications in
Scientific Journals of National and
International repute and he has presented 205
papers at National and International Conferences
and contributed chapters in seven
books.
He has trained seven DM candidates
and under his supervision twenty-eight
candidates have been awarded Ph.D
degrees.
He is actively involved in
Projects with ICMR, Department of Science and
Technology (DST), Department of Biotechnology
(DBT) including Indo-US Vaccine Action Programme
(VAP) Scheme. |
